Ava DuVernay graced the photocall for her new film, “Origin,” at the 80th Venice International Film Festival held on Sept. 6 in Venice.
DuVernay wore a pair of Louis Vuitton Trinity sandals in black, currently retailing for $1,220. Seen at Louis Vuitton’s fall 2023 show, the sandal represents Nicolas Ghesquière’s twist on classic French chic. The filmmaker’s footwear was crafted of glossy glazed calf leather and features a stud-embellished handle detail at the back inspired by the French house’s historic trunks.

The footwear also featured a strap-heavy construction with slightly elevated platform soles. This model was rounded out with thick 3.9-inch heel block heels, which offered DuVernay a conservative boost in height.

Classically dressed, DuVernay donned a crisp white high-neck Louis Vuitton top featuring flared short sleeves with gold monogrammed hardware. The creative’s top was tucked into a high-waisted black and white maxi skirt also featuring Louis Vuitton’s monogram printed across the flowing fabric. Rounding out her look, DuVernay stacked on a variety of gold and silver jewelry pieces including gold hoops and an array of rings.

The Venice Film Festival features international movies and cinematic shorts debuting for the new season. The 80th annual event is also taking place during the SAG-AFTRA strike, which has current interim agreements to allow U.S. actors to appear at the occasion. Aside from numerous premieres — including “Maestro,” “Priscilla” and “Ferrari” — the week will conclude with its starry amfAR Gala, featuring performances by Leona Lewis and Rita Ora.
