Celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger — known for styling Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto on the red carpet — talked her favorite Christian Louboutin shoes for her clients and what makes the footwear designer so special.
Erlanger was also on hand at the 2015 FN Achievement Awards to present Christian Louboutin with the Marketer of the Year award for the company’s successful #LouboutinWorld digital marketing campaign.
“Christian Louboutin is my favorite for their sneakers and their formal evening shoes. They are hands-down the most beautiful,” Erlanger told Footwear News.
Whether Erlanger is working on men or women, it’s always a collaboration. “That’s the same with every client. With men, there is a different kind of creativity. It’s not the typical glamour, with the ball gowns and this and that. You can be creative in a different and unexpected way. It’s more about the details in mens’ dressing, like with acessories and shoes.”
For women, Christian Louboutin’s Vendome platform peep-toe is a red carpet staple. “It’s a classic,” she said. “I get it in dye-to-match during awards season. Almost all of my clients love it. They are comfortable, and they work with every possible dress.”

Erlanger added, “But I also love the playful styles. I think that’s what’s so special about Christian Louboutin is that you get to have fun with what you put on your feet. There’s fantasy and humor and thoughtfulness in every single design. So if you’re looking for the glitzy, sparkly shoe or something with a little edge, they have it.”
