Celebs Love These $800 High Heels Made of Trash

There’s no doubt that Christian Louboutin’s signature red bottoms are a staple in celebrity closets. More recently, shoes with the Loubi Kraft pattern, designed by the brand’s “trash technique,” have made it onto the feet of very big names, from the ranks of first lady to “Jenny From the Block.”

The “Loubi in Progress” line features the material from Louboutin shopping bags and boxes encapsulated into heels, flats and booties covered in PVC, with some adorned with measuring tape, too. The collection was inspired by the brand’s 1999 mule called Trash, a shoe covered in collaged material and topped with PVC, and its “trash technique.”

Originally developed at the end of the ‘90s, Louboutin’s technique essentially brought the adage that “one’s trash is another’s treasure” to life by using scraps — bits of thread, buttons, and other materials — from the atelier’s seamstresses’ discarded piles and overlaid them with PVC,” according to the company.

Jennifer Lopez was the one of the latest to model the style — in May and again in July — both times while on a date with her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez. In May, J-Lo paired the look with a taupe, fur-adorned sweater dress.

The singer wore the same style that first lady Melania Trump wore just days before her European tour in July with President Donald Trump. The $795 shoes were one of six pairs of Loubs she wore that week.

Melania also drew from the red and tan colors of the shoe in selecting her look.

Trendsetter Gigi Hadid was among more celebrities who have been spotted in the shoe style. Hadid wore the So Kate pump in April for the premiere of Serena Williams’ HBO film “Being Serena.”

The model matched the shoes with a beige Derek Lam suit and a dark lip.
