Demi Lovato graced the pink carpet at the 2023 MTV VMAs held in Newark, N.J., tonight. Lovato was nominated for Video for Good and Best Pop for her song “Swine.”
The “Camp Rock” actress stepped out in shiny black leather pointed-toe pumps from Christian Louboutin, a classic in many closets. The jet-black neutral pair was comprised of patent leather uppers and included knife-like pointed toes all set atop a sturdy base. Thin 3 to 4-inch stiletto heels rounded out the set, offering Lovato a conservative and walkable boost in height.
Pointed pumps of all kinds are a popular footwear silhouette for many celebrities, Lovato included. The sharpened style, and many like it, have been spotted on a plethora of famous feet including Jennifer Garner, Hillary Clinton, Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Coolidge, Dua Lipa and Mia Goth among many others.

The “Really Don’t Care” songstress was outfitted in a dramatic floor-length trench coat made of a glossy fabric. The outerwear was worn with structural and boxy exaggerated shoulders. The jacket was layered overtop a corseted black top featuring sheer mesh panelling accompanied by a short pleated skirt. Rounding out her look, Lovato slicked back her black tresses out of her face for an edgy touch and sported a pair of shiny silver diamond-shaped earrings.
The pop star’s love for sky-high footwear silhouettes goes deep. The singer wore dark red oxfords studded with silver spokes all atop massive platforms. The former “X-Factor” judge previously wore similar styles by Stuart Weitzman, Saint Laurent, Casadei and Ruthie Davis to numerous events over the years. The singer has a rock star quality to her clothing these days that often features leather, glitter, metallics, and plenty of bling. The styling perfectly complements the sleek and often edgy shoes they wear.
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) celebrate the top music videos and performances in the music industry. This year’s awards show will honor Shakira with the Video Vanguard Award for her musical contributions to pop culture, and feature a range of performances by stars, including Doja Cat, Anitta, Cardi B, Meghan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Olivia Rodrigo.
