This ‘Queer Eye’ Star Effortlessly Pulls Off the Clear-Shoe Trend

Experimenting with one tricky shoe trend can be daunting for most, but attempting two tricky shoe trends at the same time? Now, that’s fierce — and no one in Hollywood better embodies that adjective right now than Jonathan Van Ness.

The beloved “Queer Eye” star and grooming expert attended yesterday’s Beautycon event in Los Angeles in an already daring ensemble, wearing a cropped white V-neck sweater and denim jumper with one strap left unhooked to drape down the chest. However, it was his footwear look that got all the attention for bridging two major sartorial statements at once: the “man in heels” and clear-shoe trends.

The 31-year-old talent slipped on a pair of Chanel‘s PVC and grosgrain high boots with a 4-inch heel and white colorway on the cap toe. The luxury French house introduced the shoes on its spring ’18 runway, where model Kaia Gerber stunned the front row as she strutted down the catwalk in thigh-high plastic boots. Variations of the naked shoe have since been spotted on other A-listers, including Kendall Jenner and Priyanka Chopra.

It’s also not every day a man dons an elevated boot — even with Van Ness as the subject in question. The inches-high platforms saw a men’s fashion moment when it hit Thom Browne’s runway last summer at Paris Fashion Week Men’s to mark the launch of the designer’s womenswear/non-gender-specific debut.

As Van Ness would say, this look is definitely “fiercedom, honey!”
