Kanye West Performs in NYC, Premieres New Yeezy 750 Boost Sneaker

UPDATE:

After what feels like an eternity of hype, the Yeezy sneaker has landed. And it debuted in a-star studded launch.

Hosted in New York, Kanye West unveiled his collaboration with Adidas with wife Kim Kardashian and North West watching in the front row, along with Beyonce and Jay Z. Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Anna Wintour and Alexander Wang were also in attendance.

West said the line was meant to inspire others to “pursue their dreams” and be creative.

Earlier We Reported:

After debuting his new Yeezy 750 Boost sneaker to much hype during a skillfully shoe-focused performance at this year’s Grammy Awards (and pulling a “Kanye” on Beck during the musician’s Album of the Year win), rapper Kanye West and Adidas originals will officially premiere his new shoe for the line at an invitation only event today in New York City at 4pm EST. Did your invitation to the exclusive event get lost in the mail? No worries. You can watch a live stream at one of 42 theaters around the world by nabbing tickets at yeezy.supply.

As FN reported, West’s new sneakers look similar to his original Nike collaboration, including the strap across the toe, but the Adidas design seems to be a departure from the Nike Air Yeezy’s athletic-inspired style. So far, we’ve only seen the high-top sneaker in a neutral color–light grey. And although it has the Adidas Boost sole, its slouchy upper makes it feel more casual shoe boot than athleticwear. Although West wears a lace-up pair, the toggle style has been promoted most.

The shoe is positioned, already, to be one of the most talked about of 2015. And Kanye and wife Kim are getting them into the hands of their celebrity friends, as seen by Kim’s recent post on Instagram.

According to Adidas, the Yeezy 750 Boost will be released worldwide on February 28th at flagship stores and select Consortium retailers.
