Inside The Celebrity Wardrobe: Khloe Kardashian & Giuliana Rancic

Celebrity closets are not your typical walk-ins; they have become yet another luxurious space in their homes, used to house hundreds of shoes, accessories and clothing items and are often reminiscent of designer showrooms and boutiques. Khloe Kardashian recently made headlines for her opulent athletic gear closet, and below, FN talked to the reality stars’ closet designer — LA Closet Design CEO Lisa Adams — on her other celebrity clients and the biggest shoe closets she’s worked on.

She also gave us a peek inside Giuliana Rancic‘s closet, which features Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Pour La Victoire, Miu Miu, Hunter and more.

What celebrities have you worked with?
“I have worked with the following celebrities:  Christina Aguilera, Reese Witherspoon, Fergie, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Billy Crystal, Ray Romano, Giuliana Rancic, Jaime King, Eddie Murphy, etc.”

Who had the most impressive shoe collection?
“I have a client in Beverly Hills with a shoe collection I personally was envious of — not 1,000+ pairs but still quite an extensive and brilliant collection of heels I was swooning over. In terms of sneakers, Khloe Kardashian wins hands-down. I love to run and work out, so I could appreciate every shoe.”

Are the closets custom-designed for each client, and how involved are your clients in the process?
“Yes, every project is custom-designed and fabricated for each client. Their range of  involvement varies. Some are extremely hands-on and want to be involved in every step of every detail, and others give very little feedback and trust in the end product. Most clients rely on a few inspiration images and the drawings I provide.”

Biggest shoe closet?
“I had a client in Bel-Air with 1,000+ shoes, mainly Louboutins and Manolos. I designed library-stack-like cabinets for her shoes and also went into the ceiling with a rotating carousel to accommodate all of them.  It was insane and beautiful at the same time!”

How long does the process take from start to finish?
“The process generally takes about four to six months from start to finish — from design and fabrication to installation and organization/styling.”

What are your starting prices?
“The starting price is approximately $30,000 for the walk-in closets I design. I use wood or painted/lacquered finishes — no plastic materials — and superior functional hardware in the closets.”

For the average consumer, do you have any tips for the best way to organize a shoe closet?
“I would organize by sport, then by brand.”
