Paul Mescal Gets Preppy in Horsebit Loafers at Gucci’s Men’s Spring 2025 Show During Milan Fashion Week

Paul Mescal graced the front row at Gucci‘s men’s spring 2025 show held in Milan during Milan Fashion Week today. Other notable attendees included Venus and Serena Williams, Yamato Inoue, Anna Dello Russo and Kaytranada, among others.

Keeping it classic, Mescal donned a pair of black leather loafers hailing from the Italian designer brand. The tried and true slip-on silhouette featured black leather uppers fitted with silver metal horsebit detailing, a design staple for the brand, and short stacked block heels.

Mescal’s footwear provided a preppy and dapper touch to his ensemble, creating a cohesive and laid-back feel. Gucci features a slew of loafer styles in their vast footwear line. These styles, in both men’s and women’s sizes, often feature glossy leather uppers and horsebit detailing.

The loafer style is a staple for the brand and Mescal, so much so that the Irish thespian starred in a Gucci campaign alongside global brand ambassador Xiao Zhan that celebrated 70 years of their historic footwear. Gucci’s history of the loafer is one shrouded in mystery.

According to Gucci, Aldo Gucci who, along with his brothers Rodolfo and Vasco, created the loafer in response to the rise of comfortable moccasin styles which were exceedingly popular with Americans at the time.

Accompanying his preppy footwear, Mescal was styled in a summery ensemble comprised of a casual blue button-down with Gucci logo detailing and striped shorts in white. Additionally, the actor wore chunky black sunglasses and a watch with a thin leather band and a simple gold face.

Mescal’s latest project was “Aftersun.” The star plays the father to an 11-year-old, and their relationship is reflected in a vulnerable light. The actor had previously worked on the series “Normal People” with actress Daisy Edgar-Jones, a series adapted from the namesake novel written by Sally Rooney.
