Phoebe Gates — daughter of Bill and Melinda Gates — took a sleek approach to “horse girl” dressing with Stella McCartney.
On Tuesday night, McCartney’s SoHo boutique hosted an event celebrating an upcoming handbag collaboration with Phia — an upcoming digital platform by Gates and her roommate, Sophia Kianni, to be revealed later in the fall — as well as the U.S. Open and 50th anniversary of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). For the occasion, Gates strapped into a slick pair of heels by Christian Louboutin — the designer’s $995 Jenlove Alta pumps, a black leather style with a peep-toe base.
Gates’ shoes tapered into crossed-wrapped ankle straps, bringing her footwear a sharp cutout effect. Platform soles and thin stiletto heels totaling 4.72 inches in height finished the pair with a dynamic height boost, completing Gates’ look for the occasion with a formal edge.

During the occasion, Gates notably wore a slip dress from McCartney’s fall 2023 collection. Her $2,700 silk style featured a black sleeveless bodice and red sequined hem panel, divided by a golden brown print of a 1985 horse photograph by McCartney’s own mother, Linda McCartney. The piece created a whimsical, faintly bohemian look from its mixed tones, silhouettes and central pattern, also seen as Gates mingled with family and friends — including mom Melinda Gates and sister Jennifer Gates.
