Shakira dripped in Versace at the 2023 MTV VMAs held in Newark, N.J., tonight. The “She Wolf” songstress attended the event along with her two sons Sasha and Milan, who also wore the Italian designer brand.
Shakira is nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Latin Artist. The Latin songstress will also be receiving the Video Vanguard Award, an award which was given to fellow artist Nicki Minaj the following year.
The “Waka Waka” singer sported a pair of gold-heeled sandals in a sky-high platform style from Piferi. The lofty set was comprised of glossy metallic uppers accompanied by thick and secure straps that sat overtop Shakira’s toes. The shoes additionally featured thick platform soles and breathable peep-toes.
Although they weren’t visible over the hem of her gown, it’s likely that the performer’s dazzling shoes were finished off with 4 to 5-inch stiletto heels, offering the star a sky-high boost.

Coordinating her look with her shoes, the expert dancer’s Versace look was comprised of a statement-making floor-length gold gown. The garment was crafted of a shiny reflective fabric likened to chainmail. The dress was fitted and featured a slouchy strappy neckline and a low strappy back that transitioned into an elegant floor-sweeping skirt. A short side slit served to spotlight Shakira’s shoes if only slightly.
Shakira’s shoe style often varies from athletic to sleek. On the red carpet, the “Te Felicito” artist opts for sandals, rounded and peep-toe pumps with thick platform soles and towering stiletto heels, hailing from top brands including Sergio Rossi, Christian Louboutin and Versace. Her off-duty ensembles feature similarly daring boots, wedges and strappy sandals by Saint Laurent, Prada and Esquivel. Shakira can also be spotted in sneakers by Premiata, Nike and Asics.
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) celebrate the top music videos and performances in the music industry. This year’s awards show will honor Shakira with the Video Vanguard Award for her musical contributions to pop culture, and feature a range of performances by stars, including Doja Cat, Anitta, Cardi B, Meghan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Olivia Rodrigo.
