Wendy Williams To Launch Shoe Collection For Fall ’16 On HSN

Talk-show host Wendy Williams is talking — about shoes, that is. Williams, who recently celebrated the first anniversary of her eponymous clothing collection on home shopping channel HSN, is adding footwear to the mix for fall. The shoes will debut on the air Sept. 23 from 7-9 p.m ET.

“Pumps are the workhorse of the collection,” said Williams about her focus on the silhouette, which includes a suede series with metallic underlay effect and leopard-hair calf version. Both 3 1/2-inch and 4-inch heels are included in the offering.

According to Williams, however, looks aren’t everything. “I wanted to make sure [the shoes] were comfortable for all day wear,” she said. To that end, she incorporated such features as cushioned footbeds, in addition to offering all styles in medium and wide widths.

Since single-sole pumps are gaining momentum over platforms, said Williams, cushioning becomes even more important. “There’s nothing between us and the concrete. I wanted to be more thoughtful [in the design], ” she said, noting an extra layer of padding was added to the forepart of the shoe.

Boots also figure into the line, with open-toe ankle versions and over-the-knee looks in soft suede — a more fashion-forward style in the collection Williams admits may not be for everyone.

Although she has her fair share of high heels, she revealed pointy-toe sneakers are among her faves, a look she made sure to include in the line. “This style speaks to me the most,” Williams said.

Like her apparel, the shoes are moderately priced, retailing from $69.90 to $129.
