The Adidas Superstar is celebrating its 50th birthday and the brand has tapped Beyoncé to reimagine the iconic shoe for the milestone.
The singer’s Adidas Superstar Platform, which is releasing Friday, is the latest shell-toe collaboration to drop this year. Previously, the brand has called upon other high-profile endorsers to rework the shoe including Jonah Hill, Sean Wotherspoon and high-end fashion label Prada.
This version features nods to the original design including a predominately white leather upper that’s contrasted by black accents on the Three Stripes branding and heel tab. Additional details include co-branding stamped on the footbed. Where this variation makes its distinction from previous styles is the chunky platform tooling replacing the traditional cupsole setup, which adds extra height to the shoe along with a pointier toe at the forefoot.
