Guess Originals and Market Embrace Vintage ’80s Edge in New Capsule Collaboration

Guess is branching out for its latest Guess Originals collaboration, partnering with streetwear label Market on a new capsule line — complete with the return of its ’80’s mascot, Foxy.

“Our collaboration with Guess was inspired by our love of vintage and repurposed clothing,” said Mike Cherman, Market’s founder, in a statement. “We wanted to reproach this character and put him into our world. We thought, ‘What would Foxy be like if he had his own clothing shop?’ Foxy’s inspiration is a reflection of current DIY maker culture, showing that anyone can be a creator, encouraging self-expression and a DIY attitude.”

The resulting collection hinges on Guess‘ classic, yet nostalgic athleisure and denim pieces, combined with Market’s penchant for vintage-inspired designs with a graphic punch. Ranging from $18 to $248, the 14-piece line encompasses a denim jacket, a letterman jacket, denim jeans, graphic T-shirts and sweaters, as well as tube socks and trucker caps. Its core color palette is also ideal for fall, combining classic black, white and warm brown hues with shades of green, red, blue and yellow for a tonal flair.

While leaning into both brands’ fondness for vintage, the Guess Originals x Market collaboration includes detailing like distressing, acid-washing and retro patches as well, aiming to create a feel that the clothes have a lived-in fit with a deeper history.

Aside from the line’s references to the past, a particularly nostalgic element is Foxy himself. Across a variety of pieces, the mascot can be seen driving a yellow car and poking his snout over Guess’ signature triangle logos. Foxy also stars in the collaboration’s accompanying short film — which finds him looking for creative inspiration throughout his city — to bring a full-circle dimension to the capsule.
