The Top Footwear Collaborations at New York Fashion Week Fall 2024

Christian Cowan Updates Toms’ Classic Slip-On for NYFW Show

Known for his footwear collaborations, designer Christian Cowan tapped Toms for his fall/winter 2024 runway show on three shoe models. The black and white silhouettes update the footwear brand’s classic Alpargata slip-on style with some of Cowan’s signature house codes. The more extravagant pair, which sadly won’t be released to consumers, is covered in black feathers for a lounge, slipper-like feel. The other two models are featured in black and white colorways. “The flamboyance of the blossoming peony juxtaposed with raw and durable fabrics is so fresh,” Cowan said in a statement. “I love how these designs merge the magic of our runways with the ease of wearable and comfortable design. These are those shoes that you get and wear every, single, day and forget about all your other shoes.” The limited-edition Toms x Christian Cowan capsule collection will be exclusively available for purchase on Toms.com and ChristianCowan.com later this spring.

Larroudé and Jonathan Cohen Team Up on Mules and Over-the-Knee Boots

Designer Jonathan Cohen’s love of music — and concert light colors — inspired his fall 2024 collection. Cohen, who presented dresses, skirts, coats and suits in prints and pastels, once again highlighted his focus on upcycling and zero-waste design. For his second collaboration with Larroudé, he used leftover fabric bits, like patchwork pansies, to deck out the footwear label’s signature mules and boots. Bows, one of the year’s biggest trends so far, embellish Larroudé’s Kate boot. The collection — priced from $500 to $950 — is available for pre-order now. “These styles will be produced at our own factory in Brazil and shipped to the clients’ home within eight weeks,” said Marina Larroudé, co-founder of Larroudé. “This is the first time we’ve done something like this — super high speed, high fashion and high quality.”

Giuseppe Zanotti and Area’s Embellished Platforms, Pumps and Flats Kick Off New Licensing Partnership

All eyes are on Area’s new shoe collection with Giuseppe Zanotti, which debuted at the brand’s New York Fashion Week see-now, buy-now show on Sunday. From sky-high peep-toe patent platform sandals featuring oversized ornamentation to embellished ballet flats, the collection, available now, is the first to launch under a new licensing agreement. It was designed to complement the ready-to-wear offering, which was inspired by eyes this season. “I think we speak to the same woman,” Zanotti told FN this week. “Area’s passion for innovative embellishments and quality craftsmanship perfectly fit with our design DNA and time-honored expertise. The collection is vibrant, it’s like the music we both love listening to for inspiration.”

Collina Strada Gives Classic Ugg and Puma Styles a New Twist

She’s got shoe game. Collina Strada designer Hillary Taymour, who previously collaborated with Vans and Melissa, continues to reveal surprising takes on classic footwear styles. For fall ’24, the eco-focused brand paired its exaggerated ready-to-wear silhouettes with ruffled Ugg boots made from corn leather. Puma, which made a statement with the Mostro at its own New York Fashion show on Feb. 9, also teamed with the label on ruffled and printed Puma x CollinaStrada Suede XL and Velophasis styles.
