June 23, 2020: As European borders open once more, By Far has launched a summer holiday inspired capsule with luxury retailer Mytheresa. The brand’s ’90s inspired square toe Marlene sandals, slouchy Baby Amber shoulder bag and signature “Friends” inspired Rachel bag have been reimagined in grained goat leather in exclusive colorways of bubblegum pink, tangerine orange, sunshine yellow and lagoon blue.

For high summer ’20, the Rachel also features an additional chain strap, a neat transition into the brand’s fall ’20 offering which comes replete with new chain detailing across bags and shoes alike.

The leathers have been sourced from a boutique factory just outside of Paris. The tanning process uses natural vegetable dyes so each color batch completely unique while retaining a strong pigment across all the shades. “After meeting with the owner and going through the samples we fell in love with the shine and how vivid each color looks — something extremely rare for this kind of finish,” the design team told FN. “The possibilities in terms of color are endless but we chose ours for their intensity,” they added.

Increasing national production is vital to boost the French economy so the initiative is also a way to support French factories and help them recover from the health crisis.

June 17, 2020: In a continuation of celebrating 60 years of iconic shoes, Dr. Martens has teamed up with the punk-inspired clothing brand, Pleasures, to reimagine its 1460 boot.

The Dr. Martens x Pleasures boot is inspired by the contrast of punk and new wave subcultures, two groups that incorporated the legendary lace-up shoe into their wardrobe back in the ’80s. Pleasures founder Alex James designed the boot using two contrasting materials, leather, and a polished patent to symbolize how Dr. Martens’ significance has spanned across different groups, styles and musical genres throughout the years.
