Scholl’s Signature Wooden Clogs Get a Bold Update From Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

Following its beachwear debut last monthPhilosophy di Lorenzo Serafini is launching another summer-ready essential via a collaboration with Scholl Shoes.

The two brands have joined forces on a special rendition of Scholl’s signature Pescura clogs, which became fashionable in the ’60s, when French actresses wore them to vacation on the French Riviera.

Designed by Lorenzo Serafini, this iteration of the wooden-soled sandal has been hand-painted in a cherry hue and comes with a matching vinyl upper reworked with three buckles for a bolder look.

“The Scholl clog certainly belongs to the universe of my childhood memories. It is an iconic object, with its wooden sole that generates a sound when walking that immediately reminds me of my long summers at the seaside as a child,” said Serafini. “It was fun and stimulating to work on this collaboration, imagining a version of the Pescura style that could be particularly appealing to today’s women, while preserving Scholl’s authentic spirit.”

Dropping June 4, the design is just the first style of a wider range that will be revealed with the fashion label’s resort 2025 collection.

The inaugural model is priced at 380 euros and available at the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini boutique in Rome as well as both brands’ e-commerce platforms.

This is the Italian brand’s latest foray into the shoe collaboration space. It has an ongoing tie-up with Malone Souliers, which debuted during the spring 2024 runway show last September. The partnership followed in the footsteps of capsule collections previously developed with the likes of Sebago last year, resort brand Manebí in 2021 and Superga for the spring 2018 season, to name a few.

Ditto for Scholl, which launched collaborations with the likes of Y’s by Yohji Yamamoto, Ganni, Eres, Honey Dijon, Issimo and Re/Done under former global chief executive officer Tobias Klaiber, who spearheaded Scholl’s transformation and relaunch in recent years. Klaiber helped the brand expand into more than 30 new countries – including Benelux and Scandinavia in Europe, and South Korea and Malaysia in the Asia-Pacific region – as well as restore stability and profitability.

As reported earlier this year, seasoned luxury executive Andrea Collesei was appointed to succeed Klaiber, who remains on the board at Scholl and also holds the title of managing director at investment firm Aurelius Group, which acquired the footwear company in 2014. Collesei was most recently general manager at Jil Sander and before that he was CEO of Viktor & Rolf, both fashion houses controlled by Italy’s OTB Group.

As for Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, the brand is part of Aeffe’s portfolio along with labels Alberta Ferretti, Moschino and Pollini. Serafini took over the creative helm in 2014, debuting his vision for the label during Milan Fashion Week in February 2015.
