The Met to Reopen With Its Store Featuring Collaborations With Allbirds, J Crew & More

After having been closed for months, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will open Saturday. The Met store will feature some new items, having collaborated on a multi-designer capsule collection with Allbirds, Acme Studios, Estée Lauder, J. Crew and more in honor of their 150th anniversary.

Items from “The Met 150 Edit” will launch online Tuesday and the proceeds from their sales will support the museum’s collection, study, conservation and preservation of more than 5,000 years of art.

All the brands involved with the collection drew their inspiration from the museum’s permanent collection or its signature red. Online, consumers will find inspiration about how each brand was inspired by select finds in The Met.

One member of the Met’s designer capsule collection has been keeping extra-busy this summer — Allbirds. The sustainable footwear brand just launched in Korea, where it makes its popular Wool Runner sneakers.

Previously, Allbirds has collaborated with big brand names such as Chinatown Market and Adidas to design more sustainable footwear. San-Francisco based company serves 35 countries and operates 21 brick-and-mortar units around the world. Its footwear has been worn by the likes of Barack Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson and Jessica Alba.
