Ahead of its spring 2025 runway show in Shanghai on Thursday, Balenciaga has taken to Instagram to tease some of the footwear and accessories that will be featured in the collection.
Indeed, for the past few days, the luxury fashion house has slowly posted some of its latest inventions – and just like in past seasons they are oversized and unusual.
Certain to make an impression, one of the more statement-making silhouettes is the brand’s new “Giant Boot.” Aptly named, the lace-up shoe is made of worn-out leather and features an 18-centimeter platform with a circular hole going through the width of the platform.
Balenciaga also previewed the new “Platform Sneaker,” which once again emphasizes Demna’s love of oversized trainers. The style is also made in a worn-out effect and appears to have several soles stacked on top of the other, resulting in a 16-centimeter platform.
A new heel style was also teased on Wednesday. Called the “Avenue Sock Sandal,” the shoe is made of patent leather and is given a used effect with a light grey sock sewn into the heel. The shoe also features a “BB” logo on the heel.

There is also a new clutch coming next season shaped as a shoe box. According to the brand’s Instagram, the bag, called the “Shopper Sneaker Box,” is made of leather and features a magnetic closure.
Plus, keep a lookout for a possible Under Armour collaboration this season. Balenciaga also posted a pair of hoop earrings on its Instagram prominently featuring the Under Armour logo. The tie-up doesn’t seem so farfetched given Balenciaga’s history of collaboration with Adidas in previous seasons.

These new styles are the latest in the brand’s strategy to create attention-grabbing fashion items. In April, Balenciaga launched the 10XL sneaker, which continues the label’s exploration of exaggerated and extreme silhouettes.
In the company’s most recent winter 2024 show, Demna presented the Supersoft Derby as well as the Pasadena Loafer. Both featured elongated, pointed-toe boxes that pointed up. It’s a shape Demna has worked with before. This most recent collection also featured a mule, dubbed the Louis XV Mule that was pointed and featured a floppy bow made of ribbons, and the bulbous Stomper boot.
Balenciaga’s affinity for updating a previously viral shoe also came in September when the label dropped the 3XL Sock Shoe, which offered an exaggerated take on the original knit model from 2016 that helped cement Demna‘s name in fashion.
Balenciaga’s spring 2025 runway show will be presented on May 30.
