There’s a new eco-friendly, fashion boot in town, and this one certainly simplifies your shoe closet.
Designer and founder of Bhava, an ethical and sustainable fashion brand, Francisca Pineda debuted her newest design on Kickstarter to rave reviews and a quickly raised matching funds for her new convertible style.
The new Editor boot, hand crafted in Spain, is a functional and fashion-right silhouette that converts from bootie, to knee-boot, to over-the-knee styles with three detachable covers. Pineda said that while the idea of the convertible boot isn’t new, she wanted something that allowed both her, and her customers, to simplify their wardrobe and still get a fashion-first, very high quality boot that was eco-friendly. Not to mention that the boots were designed for comfort and can fit a variety of calf widths.
“For this style it’s more about the simplicity,” said Pineda. “You get three styles and we designed the bootie to be easily re-soled if it needed to be at the end of a season. We wanted this to be a lasting shoe that is all about ease and minimalism, and not having to buy three new boots each year.”

Pineda said the momentum from the sell out has been great for her budding brand, which is only in its third year, and is gaining steam from new store accounts and a growing interest in eco-conscious fashion.
After graduating from Parson’s The New School for Design, Pineda got several jobs designing in accessories and apparel for companies, including Nine West and Cynthia Rowley.
After working her way up the ladder to design director, Pineda said she started suffering from serious allergic reactions from the chemicals used to treat many of the leathers she was working with, forcing her to not only quit her new dream job but re-evaluate how fashion was being produced.
“I think people don’t know there are options out there, and would want them if they had them,” said Pineda.
