Brunello Cucinelli Fall ’16 Women’s Shoes Have Fun With Fur

For fall ’16, Brunello Cucinelli‘s women shoes reworked his usual creatures of comfort. Fur flew, either as a decorative touch on the straps of chunky-heeled sandals or sprouting from the tongues of sneakers or, most sumptuously, mink shower slides, a luxury oxymoron if there ever was one.

Cucinelli’s popular trainers this season stuck to their retro runner roots, with uppers done in puffa nylons or natty herringbone. A new flatform style cap-toe low-top could have been quirky, but in house-true earthy shades such as cocoa suede, they maintained the brand’s studied sprezzatura.

Equally chunky soles carried over to a lug oxford toe-spring version in polished matte patent or a kilt loafer, too. Showing more vertical experimentation than usual, there was also a ’70s-style wedge tasseled take and a platform heel too.

With his routes in the Umbrian countryside, Cucinelli woman is outdoorsy, or at least, would like to appear so. Thus, fashion hikers, the kind meant more for navigating the shops of St. Moritz versus more alpino adventures, have long been a collection mainstay.

Suddenly, other brands, such as Aquazzura and Tabitha Simmons, have started offering their version. But Cucinelli’s, with their authentic construction, supple leather and English tweed materials, are the height of mountaineer-chic.
