French Loafer Brand Galet To Launch Hamptons Pop-Up Van

This summer, French loafer brand Galet is set to launch a Hamptons pop-up shop—or rather, a pop-up van.

The men’s and women’s luxury brand, specializing in loafers ranging from $295 to $395, will begin its mobile “Tour de Galet” retail experience beginning on Memorial Day weekend. It will sell its spring ’15 product out of a vintage 1940s Citröen H-Van, which will travel throughout the Hamptons and Montauk until the end of summer.

“We are excited to introduce ‘Tour de Galet’ to the Hamptons, particularly as we have developed a strong clientele along the East Coast,” said Jonathan Horesmans, Galet co-founder, in a release.

“We are always looking for ways to express the playful charm that is central to our brand identity,” added co-founder Javier Goggins. “[It] is distinctive from traditional luxury retail, as it brings our product to the lifestyle of our consumer and encourages them to interact with the shoes.”

If you’re looking to get your hands on some loafers while at the beach, Galet will be posting upcoming dates and locations on its social media pages, using the hashtag #TourDeGalet. The shop will also include “French lawn furniture, games and music.”

Galet currently handcrafts its loafers in the Western region of France, using rubber soles as well as leather, canvas, suede and ponyhair uppers.
