Level Shoes’ Head Buyer on the Shoes That Ruled Fashion Week

It’s hard to keep up with Alberto Oliveros, the head buyer of Level Shoes, during fashion month.

The always-energetic Dubai resident is always on the go, visiting dozens of brands each day. Here are his winners from Europe this season.

Top Brands:

Alexandre Birman’s collection was fresh and full of color. I appreciate that he played with his iconic Clarita style and developed it in different materials, shapes and colors.”

Dries Van Noten was an exquisite and sophisticated collection per usual. The sandals in satin and floral motifs were just gorgeous.”

Alessandro Michele’s collection for Gucci was ’70s cool with an old-world vibe. The runway styles were full of embellishment. The knotted pearl pumps and color-blocked satin pumps with the pearl-embellished heel were standouts.”

Edgardo Osorio does it again for Aquazzura. The collection was vibrant, and particularly the jungle influenced styles. I predict his flat Wild Thing slides will be a season must-have, as were the heels.”

Chloe took urban style to new heights. The collection was clean and minimal, classic Chloe. I adore the slides in fabric and leather mules and the double-strap sandals.”

New Names to Watch:

Marco de Vicenzo created yet again another grand collection, filled with color and texture. I was happy to see emerald in the collection. This is a color that works so well in The Middle East. I loved the runway mules, silk boots and slides.”

Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio created their first shoe collection for Attico, and it took my breath away. Their sandals in rich velvet and jewel-encrusted mules were stunning.”

Fabrizio Viti: In addition to still designing for Louis Vuitton, I feel Fabrizio has found such a unique identity for his eponymous collection. The collection is very feminine – the sandals, slides and cage booties with delicate daisies are super-cute. We’re excited to launch the collection in Dubai.”

Mercedes Castillo‘s first collection was fun and ladylike. We saw lots of pastel colors and pretty half-circle details.
