Day 6 — DSquared2

Designers Dean and Dan Caten’s slightly military, slightly Victorian collection resulted in highly decorated stiletto sandals. With bits of tasseling, wrap-tying, metallic armor and beadwork, these statement heels ended Milan fashion week in full force.

Day 5 — Marni

Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni turned to wood details, creative heel shapes and metallics for the latest Marni collection. The expressionism of shoes this season complemented the push-pull in apparel between sharp and undulating lines.

Day 4 — Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

Designer Lorenzo Serafini combined his duo mused this season: Lady Diana and Siuxsie Sioux. The results? Princess-meets-punk slouchy boots in black or red with 1980s ruffling sprouting from the top.

Day 3 — Marco de Vincenzo
What could possibly stand up to Marco de Vincenzo’s wildly fun furs and colorful coats? His answer was ultra-ruffled mules, slingbacks, boots and pumps, done in suedes and velvets. The ankle boots, featuring ruffled outer sole detail and contrasting black bow, were a particular highlight.

Day 2 — Prada
Prada, the explorer: chubby hikers with detailed soles and uppers often done in glossy leather primaries. An inspired juxtaposition of practical (sturdy soles) with a soupçon of damsel seduction.

Day 1 — No. 21
Move over, minimalism: Maximalist creations prevailed at No. 21. Alessandro Dell’Acqua created crisscross sandals with block heels. They were embellished with silver studs, heavy-duty buckles and nude cable ties styled around the ankle. Though the style was also done in glitter or blue velvet, a neutral brown leather grounded this otherwise showstopping shoe.
