The young Italian-based designer behind shoe label O Jour, shares her local perspective on visiting Venice.
My favorite neighborhood: “Cannaregio. I like it because you can still see the common Venetian daily life. The square is used as a playground for kids, the residents of the parish all know each other and it’s a bit away from the tourist crowds of the San Marco, Castello and Dorsoduro districts.”
Must-visit destination: “A friend took me for an aperitif on Fondamenta degli Ormesini, where Venetians come with their own boats to have a couple of good glasses of wine and tapas.”

Coolest new discovery: “Osteria L’Orto dei Mori in Campo dei Mori for dinner, and what a dinner — fresh fish with delicious homemade pastas and definitely well-displayed.”
Best thing about living here: “The ‘human’ passing of time. Being without cars, life is somewhat less frenetic here than a land-based ordinary life. If you add the chance to get on a private boat on the lagoon for sunset, well, that’s life in Venezia.”

If Venice were a shoe, it would be: “A flat sandal embellished with special ornaments.
