Get Ready For The Post Holiday Sales

Just in case your boyfriend missed the countless hints you’ve been dropping about those to-die-for Manolo Blahnik boots at Saks, it’s likely there’s  still a chance to snag a pair.

While Black Friday’s known for its customary killer deals, the day after Christmas may be just as discount packed. With record breaking warm weather hitting much of the country, retailers will likely be more eager than ever to clear their winter inventory in order to make room for spring goods.

It’s easy to plan a shopping strategy, with mega retailers such as Macy’s heavily advertising sales on TV and in newspaper ads. Like Black Friday, many retailers open their doors before their usual business hours, allowing eager buyers to get first crack at sale merchandise. A good plan of action is returning an unwanted gift first thing in the morning, so you can quickly turn the refund dollars into a pair of sexy over-the-knee boots.

Although there’s plenty of temptation when it comes to those 50 percent to 80 percent sales tags, don’t be too hasty. Sales often continue through the new year and well beyond. If you don’t see your size and color on the selling floor, remember most stores have companion websites with additional stock. And, if the retailer places the order, shipping fees are typically waived.

For those who can’t wait for the mall doors to open, most commerce sites start their sales at the stroke of midnight.
