Statement Spring ’16 Sneakers & Lovely Flower Arrangements

With spring in full bloom, the season’s loveliest sneakers enhance the art of floral arranging with aplomb.

Indeed, April showers are in full effect, bringing the promise of a bursts of new flora life. And while designer kicks and, say, lush fistfuls of orchids, viburnum and scabiosa may not seem like they belong in the same arrangement, they do. Both are equal parts necessity and extravagance.

Take, for instance, Christopher Kane’s neoprene (waterproof!) sneakers, which match and clash with equally peppy Gerbera daisies.

Or Emilio Pucci‘s elasticized trainers, which with a fluttery ruffle trim, pair well with fresh Lisianthus stems and spoils of pink silk ribbon.

The symbolism continues further when it comes to romance. Sneakerheads and regular folk alike will attest that a special pair of kicks — say Roger Vivier’s Miss Viv patent slip-ons or Chanel‘s silver retro runners — can pull on the heartstrings in the same way as a beautiful surprise bouquet of anemones and parrot tulips or ranunculus and calla lillies can as well.

Fusing elements of athletica with whimsy, say in the form of Tory Burch‘s floral appliqué version or Chiara Ferragni‘s glitter high-tops with velcro-strapping, is the most modern approach for women’s sneakers this season.
