The Boldest Heels of Spring 2017 Hit the Nashville Music Scene

Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris: Nashville‘s old school Queens of Country inspired the Footwear News fashion team to whip together a more-is-more medley of grand ole looks, shot on location in Music City.

While the spring ’17 runways might not have immediately called to mind Southern style, maximized shapes (think jumbo platforms at Michael Kors, No. 21 and Erdem), high-wattage finishes (glitter at Giamba or metallic vinyl boots at Christian Louboutin) and full-tilt details (extreme strapping at Christian Siriano, bigger-is-better bows and lots of them by Marco De Vincenzo) sung a different tune.

Speaking of Southern style, Nashville’s hospitality was warmly felt by FN’s visiting editors, with photographer and local Yve Assad acting as both location scout and tour guide. After all, looks this bold require an equally compelling setting.

Star musician Langhorne Slim allowed model and Georgia peach Piper Carlson to pose in his wholly original guitar-strewn home. And the Elliston Soda Shop, a greasy-spoon institution, allowed us to accessorize a Simone Rocha look with one of their famous milkshakes, while Robert’s Western World couldn’t have been a more ideal backdrop, with its live music and rows of vintage cowboy boots.
