If you’re a fan of black and white combos, you’ll love Achilles Ion Gabriel‘s latest collection. The Finnish-born designer’s fall ’16 men’s and women’s footwear assortment features chunky combat boots, lug sole derbies and Velcro sneakers — and there’s barely a hint of color in sight.
The designer caught FN’s eye last year for its unisex focus and bold footwear shapes. This season, he continued his unusual silhouettes. Lace-up combat boots and derby dress shoes had thick galosh-style lug soles.
Signature sneaker silhouettes returned in new colorways like black, white or burgundy (the only color in the collection). High-tops had thick rubber midsoles.
The overall palette was much darker than his spring collection, which saw pastel blues and bright tangerine hues. Certain accents like metallic Velcro strapping added a much-needed impactful finish, though.
