The Craziest Runway Shoe Moments Of 2015

The year’s men’s and women’s runway shows aimed to shock (and occasionally awe). Designers offered a healthy dose of humor as the season’s next big trend. Shaggy shoes or socks-and-sandals together? So wrong they’re right.

In honor of the entertaining year, we’ve explored the 12 craziest runway looks of 2015.

John Galliano debuted his new role at Maison Margiela with a bold approach. Mules were covered in a shaggy fur, which swept the floor as models walked the runway (talk about double duty shoes). Raf Simons took a vampy approach to Christian Dior with latex thigh-high boots and acrylic heels.

Chanel and Alexander Wang went for the flatform this year. Chanel’s Teva-style sandals had light-up bottoms, while Wang had a more grungy approach with oversized silver chains used as appliqué.

In the men’s realm, the experimentation continued.

Labels like Givenchy and Gucci presented unusual footwear shapes in menswear, like a fisherman sandal in pastel purple or a lace-up ballet flat.

While not all the styles here are wearable for the everyday, the creativity—and zesty attitude—was indeed appreciated. Here’s to hoping 2016 is half as memorable.
