Often the most experimental and daring city of Fashion Month, London proved to be surprisingly tame this season. Still, a handful of designers offered up some crazy footwear during the spring ’16 shows at London Fashion Week — from futuristic thigh-high boots to feathered mules resembling a wild animal.
House of Holland lead the outlandish shoe brigade with its feather-embellished footwear. Pink and blue feathers were applied to boots and mule sandals, with some having a sort of ombre treatment.
Sophia Webster, who is quickly becoming the queen of quirky, was inspired by a psychedelic sea theme. The result? Strappy sandals embellished with fake sea plants and shells, as well as glitter-sole platforms.

MM6 Maison Margiela went for glittered flatworms that were extra-towering — perfect for tearing up the disco dance floor.
KTZ didn’t go retro, but rather futuristic, this spring. Thigh-high laceup boots had a robotic feel with harsh lines and tubular paneling.
