The ease of Armani — from the label’s fluid tailoring to its soft layering — also usually extends to the footwear. After all, this is a house whose models always expressly emphasize each and every leisurely stroll down the runway. Hence, flat or low-heeled shoes take preference.
Armani Privé’s fall ’15 haute couture presentation was no exception. Pointed flats and squared-off smoking slippers were the two shoe styles shown today in Paris.
Both came in an array of holographic and high-shine finishes, from seersucker ticking to iridescent leather in shades of fuchsia and aqua.
For a more classic take, there were also black velvet loafers. They were paired with matching hero jackets in tweed and jacquard with peplum flourishes. Or, most charmingly, with strapless ball gowns.
If you consider that many of couture’s clients, such as those in the Middle East, wear these costly creations in the privacy of their own homes, these fancy flats didn’t feel one bit out of step.
