Kurt Geiger Steps Into Children’s Footwear, Takes Over Kids’ Biz at Harrods, Selfridges

Kurt Geiger is getting into the children’s footwear game with a debut collection set to launch for fall/winter 2015.

The brand said its new junior collection will see mini versions of some of its “cult classics and most innovative shoes” redesigned for children up to 11 years old. Initially, the line will  be available at Kurt Geiger flagship stores and department stores such as Harrods and Selfridges, and at a new Kurt Geiger multi-brand kids’ shoe website set to launch next autumn.

This summer, Kurt Geiger will also be taking over the children’s footwear businesses at both Harrods and Selfridges. The British brand already operates the shoe departments in those stores as well as in Liberty. The move will see Kurt Geiger host a completely new store concept and introduce more than 20 new brands.

Neil Clifford, CEO of Kurt Geiger, said the brand is “used to working incredibly closely with the buying and management teams in both Harrods and Selfridges to ensure their ladies’ and men’s shoe offer is entirely reflective of their fashion business. It’s natural to extend our partnership into their children’s shoe assortment.”

Rebecca Farrar-Hockley, buying and creative director of Kurt Geiger, said the company receives many letters “from little girls, and their mums, asking for mini versions of many of our designs. Our customers have grown with us; now their children are also in need of stylish and fun shoes.”
