Marc Jacobs‘ towering Kiki boots are making waves yet again — this time, thanks to a fashion disaster.

On Tuesday, Jacobs’ official Instagram page shared a new Instagram Reel shot by Yulya Shadrinsky, featuring the 6-inch boot’s $550 iteration in croc-embossed white leather. However, this wasn’t a simple product shot; instead, the footwear was worn by model Tereza Kubova, who fell down a set of stone stairs before picking herself and strolling away.

Kubova, naturally, took a fall in a full Jacobs outfit from his fall 2023 collection: the designer’s matte silver monogrammed jeans and a matching trucker jacket. His $795 XL Sack bag — a large hobo-style tote crafted from white leather — completed her attire with a neutral flair, while also providing added cushioning from the fall.

The video marked the towering heels’ latest moment in the spotlight, following their appearance in Jacobs’ fall 2023 campaign — where the same white style was worn by Kim Kardashian.

Needless to say, the video has quickly gone viral, amassing 3.9 million views so far. Comments on the post — including mentions from TikTok influencer Harry Hill and drag queen Miss Fame — ranged from relatability to empathy and concern for Kubova falling on film.

“Oh she ate those stairs for lunch!” Hill stated in the comments.

The spotlight on Jacobs’ Kiki boots followed the boot’s array of iterations released in his fall 2023 collection, which vary from buckled knee-high platforms to silhouettes coated in sparkling crystals. A cult-favorite shoe since its debut in the designer’s fall 2016 fashion show — where Lady Gaga and Kendall Jenner both soared in variations on the runway — the Kiki’s have since been revived in the 2020’s, with styles resold on the vintage market and re-introduced in Jacobs’ own line.
