Misha Nonoo And Aldo Rise Release Third Collaboration Collection

Misha Nonoo and Aldo Rise are back at it again.

For spring ’16, the two brands have linked up for a third accessories collaboration. The new collection of shoes and handbags debuted as part of Nonoo’s ready-to-wear presentation back in September, which the designer showed via Instagram. And now the footwear is ready for purchase.

The shoes, which range in price from $90 to $160, include mules and strappy platform sandals finished in smooth leathers or denim with contrast stitching. The styles are available in select Aldo stores, as well as Aldo’s e-commerce website, beginning today.

Nonoo and Aldo Rise’s first collaboration of strappy flats debuted in 2014. The Aldo Rise initiative sees the Montreal-based company supporting emerging designers, such as past participants like Preen, J.W. Anderson and Mark Fast.

We asked Nonoo three essential questions on the collection:

What was the inspiration?
“The inspiration for this collection was the study of contrast and the beauty that is created when two opposing forces come together, as well as the 1960s minimalist art movement. Each piece was designed with the idea of transition in mind, thinking about real women and how they should dress from day to play.”

How is this collection different than the first?
“I would say that this collection is more playful then our previous collection, especially the flatforms.”

How does it tie in to your ready-to-wear collection?
“The shoes and handbags were the finishing touches to the collection’s constant play between two opposing forces, work to play, tailored to feminine. For instance, we designed the canvas flatforms with a subtle bow detail — a feminine take on a menswear classic, making these bold yet playful.”
