The mood: The 1973 fashion film “Battle of Versailles” that Oscar de la Renta took part in was the starting point for the collection. “I’ve been focusing on the waist a lot this season,” designer Peter Copping told FN. “We reintroduced and modernized boned waistbands to really emphasize it.”
The front row: Ivanka Trump, Olivia Munn, Rachel Zoe.
The shoes: Set atop a slim platform sole, house footwear designer Daniel Lawler reimagined the straightforward slingback as Marie, a new curvy affair, with a more rounded toe and heel shape. And instead of basic nude, he proposed flattering new options of dusty rose water snake, mahogany or croc-embossed patent as neutrals.

The review: The film’s Versailles setting was best tied-in with ornate brocade and moire jeweled faille pumps. On the other end of the spectrum, to undercut the elaborateness of some of the looks, stylist Alex White paired them with bracingly sharp Corinne stretch Napa booties. With turtlenecks under frocks and more forceful footwear underfoot, the collection again showed a respectful yet forward progression for the revered brand.
