Pantone Announces 2016 Colors Of The Year: Shoes Inspired By The Pastel Hues

Pastels, anyone? Pantone has announced its 2016 “Colors of the Year” including the Serenity pastel blue and Rose Quartz blush pink. Feeling inspired, we’ve rounded up 12 standout women’s shoes inspired by the latest hues.

According to a release on Pantone’s website, the 2016 colors—a color is released every year—are meant to “challenge traditional perceptions of color association. In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design,” it said.

While the it colors this year are decidedly non-gender specific, the colors are available in more feminine or masculine silhouettes. Luxe brands like Alexander McQueen, Tabitha Simmons and Nicholas Kirkwood offered striking heels and booties, with more angular shape offsetting the softness of the Pantone shades.

More mensy takes on the pastels included a sneaker focus. Options include Common Projects’ signature low-top sneaker, as well as Versace’s patent high-top style.
