Spring Trend: Designer Shoes Get The Patchwork Treatment

For spring ’15, luxury footwear designers have gotten crafty with patchwork leather.

Both Gianvito Rossi and Charlotte Olympia took literal approaches to patchwork detailing. Gianvito Rossi’s suede style is a sophisticated take with its focus on earthy tones, while Charlotte Olympia went for a bolder, more colorful look.

Joshua Sanders patched an emoji-style smiley face onto its espadrille. Saint Laurent went more graphic with a comic book-inspired thunderbolt on its metallic sneaker, while Stella McCartney played with flashy star embellishments.

Men’s brands got into the action as well.

Pierre Hardy layered suede for a geometric patchwork effect, while Valentino mixed camo-print and solid-colored suedes. Rising brand Wooyoungmi offered a more subtle take with mixed materials, using a mesh-and-patent leather combo.

While the styles here are busy enough on their own, you can still mix and match your outfit in the same vein — just remember to stick to a similar color palette.
