Rene Caovilla celebrated the 50th anniversary of its signature Cleo sandals in glitzy style.
On Tuesday, the Italian luxury footwear brand toasted five decades of the sleek shoe style with a cocktail party hosted by Giorgia Caovilla. Held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, the occasion found guests viewing a range of the brand’s archival pumps and sandals on display, ranging from the 1970’s to the 2010’s. Naturally, all featured the Cleo’s signature ankle-winding straps in an array of colors, finishes and embellishments.
The event also included a mix of the label’s friends, press and various influencers, as well. Style stars including Sophia Culpo, Daisy Marquez, Emira D’Spain and more arrived in an array of colorful, crystal-trimmed and shiny Cleo styles to celebrate the brand’s achievement.
At the event, René Caovilla’s 50th anniversary books were also on display for those in attendance to peruse throughout the evening. The colorful tomes depict the history and variations on the label’s Cleo heels through the decades, ever since the first Cleo sandal was released in 1973 — complete with a wealth of exclusive photography and design illustrations.

René Caovilla’s soiree in Los Angeles marked the brand’s latest event held in celebration of the Cleo’s 50th anniversary. Previously, the high-end shoe brand also toasted the winding heels with a party at London retail institution Harrod’s in September. The Cleo itself has also had a widespread year, with the shoe’s glamorous iterations seen on celebrities including Natasha Poly, Taraji P. Henson and Kim Kardashian — among others — throughout 2023.
