A Closer Look At Rochas’ Fall 2016 Runway Shoes

The latest Rochas footwear assortment is not for the timid. Alessandro Dell’Acqua debuted a collection of sky-high platforms during Paris fashion week, all styled with ribbed socks in pinks and greens for a maximalist effect. Now, we have a closer look at the shoes — but be warned, they may be easier to look at than to walk in.

Dell’Acqua is one of the few designers who always designs from the feet up, so it was no surprise his footwear collection this season was bold. The disco platforms had two patent ankle straps and extra-thick heels for support.

Though the designer played up the impactful nature of the shoes, like one style in an all-over silver sequin treatment, he also reworked the platforms in more ladylike materials. Vibrant satins in tangerine and emerald offered a refined color palette.

Floral embroidery on a velvet base was unexpected, especially the pink velvet that resembled your grandmother’s kitschy couch. It was the perfect mix of the old and the new. A crackled leather in burnt orange was equally as fresh.
