Salvatore Ferragamo’s New Made-to-Order Shoes Cost Up to $13,500

Salvatore Ferragamo is offering men the chance to design their perfect shoe — but at a cost. The Italian label’s new customizable Tramezza shoes can cost up to $13,500.

Launched last month, the new customization program can be done both in-store and online. Consumers choose from three of Ferragamo’s top-tier Tramezza styles — an oxford, monk strap or monk-strap boot — and personalize its materials, color and buckle finish, along with personalized lettering on the sole.

While prices depend on the chosen finishes, they can range from $1,500 to a whopping $13,500 (upper leathers include materials such as suede, ostrich and crocodile, which is the most expensive option).

Luxury footwear labels are increasingly embracing customization programs. In September, Jimmy Choo reopened its store in Milan with new made-to-order services, as well as a personal shopping room. Italian heritage brand Sutor Mantellassi also recently launched a made-to-order service using its signature exotics.

Footwear News recently took a tour of Ferragamo’s rich footwear archive, which contains about 15,000 shoes. The most valuable style? A golden shoe from 1966 that Ferragamo made for an Australian customer, costing $25,800 at today’s exchange rate. Suddenly a $13,500 shoe doesn’t seem so bad.
