The Mood: Three generations. This season, creative director Julie de Libran looked inward, to the house’s Rykiels as muses (the legendary Sonia, her daughter Nathalie and granddaughter Lola) for a collection that celebrated this community of women.

The Shoes: The designer enlisted artist Maggie Cardelús to help her create the ‘Le Visages’ collage, featuring the faces of the Rykiels plus de Libran and the artist as well. The resulting print decorated ruffled silk chiffon dresses and platform boots too. There were also suede sandals with outsize marabou pompons and some fetching cheetah-spotted fur mules. All styles allowed models to make easy strides, which suited the collection’s early ’70s wafty proportions. No tricky shapes or heights here. Even in a Jane Birkin-sheer dress, the Rykiel women still wears a heel she can conquer the night in. Footwear was again made in partnership with Robert Clergerie.
