London Fashion Week offered a bevy of fresh footwear ideas for next spring. Whether it’s trading in your single-soled heels for extreme platforms or sliding into kitschy sandals, see five of London’s biggest trends below:
1. Courtly Heels
Refined is in. At Erdem, Mulberry and Ashley Williams, pumps had square toes or high-shine patent finishes, proving ladylike flourishes — a change from designers’ ultra-vampy stilettos — are the new thing.
2. Bells & Whistles Boots
Less isn’t always more. Though it reads as more of a fall style, leather boots were given new life at Burberry, Simone Rocha and J.W. Anderson. Finishes included oversized tassels, colored patents or extra lacing.

3. Extreme Platforms
Clunk, clunk, clunk. Soles were heightened and bulkified this season, meaning the platform trend is here to stay. We saw lace-up flatforms at Erdem, and more theatrical platform boots at Gareth Pugh.
4. Mules & Slingbacks
Slip into one of spring’s easiest styles. At Topshop, Mother of Pearl and Sophia Webster, backless was the message — whether on flat or heeled styles. Some styles had slingback straps for support, though.
5. Eccentric Slides
Ending off the week on a kooky note, slide sandals were amplified with kitschy details at Charlotte Olympia, Malone Souliers and Anya Hindmarch. Think furry detailing, impactful prints or color-blocking.
