The Must-Have Sock Trend for Fall

Making fall predictions is a tricky business, but if there’s one thing that’s certain for the coming months, it’s that ankle booties will once again be a big fashion push. And to update the popular seasonal look, there’s the latest legwear trend: lacy ankle socks.

On the fall ’16 runways, brands showed off cropped lace socks with a variety of short booties, and also with pumps, sandals and flats. No doubt about it — these socks have range.

South Carolina-based legwear brand Bootights first introduced its line of lacy anklets this past spring. The light summery styles, which are available now for $15, are made with the brand’s Invisi-liner technology to keep feet cushioned and dry in the warmer months.

Now for fall, the label is introducing a new lacy look that can withstand those cool fall days and nights. The 2PK Performance Lo-Cut socks, priced at $12, are moisture-wicking and come equipped with compression arch support for added comfort. And, of course, they have a sweet lace cuff for a feminine touch.

Shelby Mason, founder of Bootights, explained to FN her reasons for creating this fall style: “So many of us don’t have the right socks to wear with our ankle boots. We either grab a running sock that slides down under our heel or steal a sock from the guy in our life, and those inevitably show over the top of the boot causing a fashion faux pas. I designed these ankle boot socks as a solution to this problem.”

The sporty lace anklets will hit stores on Sept. 25, available at Bootights.com, Zappos.com, Belk and Lord & Taylor.
