Much like the “single of summer,” every year there seems to be an “it” shoe of the season.
Last year, thanks to the surprising appearance of Birkenstocks on the runway at Celine, shoe fiends couldn’t get their hands on those iconic sandals fast enough.
And while the buzz around the Birks has subsided a bit from last year’s fever pitch, it looks as though there’s a new champion setting up to be the must-have shoe of this summer season.
On the runways of Louis Vuitton and Dior, the plain-Jane thong looks to be the new “it” sandal.
We like the ease of the simple leather thong styles that are a little more grown-up than their beach-ready cousin, the rubber flip-flop. They’re as ready to run errands as they are to head to a casual lunch, brunch, dinner or a day on the water.
We also don’t mind a thong sandal with a bit of added oomph.
