From Motorcycle Boots to Skate Sneakers: Jonathan Anderson’s Fall 2024 Loewe Men’s Collection Offers Shoes For Everyone

Often going the quirky route when it comes to shoe and accessory designs, Jonathan Anderson took an easy-to-wear approach for his fall/winter 2024 Loewe men’s collection.

The shoes this season often take a masculine approach – an overarching theme for Loewe’s fall 2024 collection. This can be seen in a new motorcycle boot. Featured in a dark distressed leather, the model also appears to come in a slip-on loafer style version.

Rugged work and combat boots are also present in the collection. The suede styles come up high on the ankles and are featured on the runway in black and beige colorways. There’s also a brief appearance of a dark brown fisherman sandal – a trending style set to make an impact this spring.

Turning to sneakers, the low-top models reference popular skate shoe designs. There are solid and two-tone colored upper options that seem to harken back to the Authentic canvas sneaker model from Vans. This model was seen in a black and white combo as well as a light purple, and multi-colored terry upper version. A black and white sneaker with gum sole detailing that takes design cues from a classic Chuck Taylor was also seen on the runway.

When it came to styling this season’s collection for the Paris Fashion Week presentation on Saturday, Anderson explored the notion of connectivity. Quite literally, every piece was melded together, like white athletic sport socks came attached to skate sneakers, denim and leather pants attach themselves to the motorcycle boots, and so on, with the aim of evoking the feeling of a collage.

“An algorithm of masculinity,” Anderson wrote in his Loewe show notes. “Reflecting on how levelled up everything is today: TMZ, Us Weekly and People Magazine, social media feeds, paparazzi shots and celebrity culture, all forming one single collage, which is what the work of Richard Hawkins is ultimately about. Collaged realness, that is. Breaking away from formality, and the idea of one single look, a multitude of desirable characters is presented. The expression is so straightforward it becomes blatant, with a restlessness running throughout.”

For his fall/winter 2024 Loewe menswear show, Anderson also collaborated with artist Richard Hawkins, bringing his unique aesthetic universe within the show space and into the collection.

Hawkins’ work, which often indulged his fascination for the male body, is turned into snippets that, in a further collage, end up on jewelry and clothing, becoming print, jacquard on knit, embroidery on oversized Squeeze bags —which also come in denim— as well as various embellishments on the Puzzle Fold tote, including embroidery, leather marquetery, glass studs, and fringes.
