Sperry is bringing its preppy shoes a subversive spin for its latest retail project.

The footwear brand has joined forces with Boston-based retailer Concepts on a brand new pop-up store, which will open at the Head of the Charles Regatta competition from Oct. 20 to 22 in Cambridge, Mass. The occasion will feature a displayed collection of limited-edition Concepts apparel, as well as an exclusive new shoe created by both brands.

Sperry’s new style adds to its collaboration with Concepts, merging both labels’ heritage in the Sperry x Concepts A/O 3-Eye Cup sneaker. The $150 style features round-toed uppers crafted in hairy textured suede, set atop a sleek, clear translucent rubber sole with a smooth outsole — plus a textured base for added grip.

The style will come in two colorways, a stormy gray and a dark chocolate-brown. Each features woven cords strung through their mesh-padded counters, similar to Sperry’s own signature Authentic Original boat shoes. The lace-up style is finished with woven laces cinching its front, complete with clear toggle clasps for a utilitarian, nautical edge. Co-branded tongue patches finish each colorway with a preppy touch.

Sperry’s collaboration with Concepts is its latest co-branded launch of 2023. Throughout the year, the brand has released an array of limited-edition shoes, products and capsule collections with a wide range of labels, including Pleasures, Malbon Golf, Beams Plus Japan and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” among others.

“With this partnership, we’re able to tell a uniquely New England story with Sperry that’s rooted in heritage and sport while putting our design and viewpoint on it,” said Tarek Hassan, Founder and CEO of Concepts.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Concepts to unveil this exceptional collaboration. As a New England-based brand, being able to showcase great products in our own backyard with a legendary partner like Concepts is exciting. By combining Sperry’s rich legacy with Concepts’ unique perspective, we have reimagined the iconic boat shoe to resonate with an audience seeking both style and substance,” said Elizabeth Drori, CMO of Sperry.

You can discover Sperry x Concepts’ pop-up store at Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass. The brand’s Sperry x Concepts A/O 3 Eye-Cup sneaker will be available for wider release on Nov. 10 exclusively online at cncpts.com.
