Adidas And Y-3 Team Up For The Roland Garros Tennis Collection

To further bolster its tennis line, Adidas has announced the release of the Roland Garros Collection by Y-3. The shoes – designed by the world-renowned Yohji Yamamoto – will make their first appearance on a pro circuit court at the French Open, to be held May 1-June 7 at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris.

The collection, which is available for purchase now, boasts an array of clothing and accessories as well as the tennis sneaker Adizero Y3 Clay, available for men and women, that is designed specifically for play on a clay court.

While the clothing and accessories will have Yamamoto’s well-known black-and-white color scheme, the shoes will sport a far different look. The shoes are predominantly black but will feature the Y-3 spring-summer ’15 collection’s bold Hawaiian floral prints on the heel, midsole and tongue.

Two of the top tennis pros in the world — sixth-ranked women’s player, Ana Ivanovic, and 13th-ranked men’s player, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga — will wear the shoes at the tournament, along with the ball boys and ball girls.

“We’re always looking for ways to impact the game,” said Graham Williamson, senior director of Adidas Tennis. “The unexpected partnership of our high-performance product with the style and craftsmanship of Y-3 and Mr. Yamamoto is a great example. And there’s no better place to showcase this exciting collaboration than with our top players on the prestigious courts of Roland Garros.”

Shoppers can find the Roland Garros Collection by Y-3 on the Adidas and Y-3 websites as well as at Adidas Sport Performance and Y-3 stores.
