Adidas Sponsored Caroline Wozniacki Loses In Second Round At US Open

Adidas-sponsored no. 4 seed Caroline Wozniacki lost in a three-set match to no. 149-ranked Petra Cetkovska in a second round match at the US Open on Thursday night. The two took to the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium following Roger Federer’s match against Steve Darcis in which he handily beat the No. 66 ranked Darcis 6-1, 6-2, 6-1.

After Cetkovska took the first set 6-4, Wozniacki fought back to take the second set 7-5. Over the course of the match, Denmark native Wozniacki gave up five match points. In the third set, Cetkovska pushed back, taking the set to a tie break and hammering Wozniacki 7-1 in the tie break to win the third set 7-6.

It was a heartbreaker of a match for Wozniacki, who has twice made it to the US Open finals including last year when she lost to Serena Williams.

Wozniacki’s Adidas gear at this year’s tournament included a pair of shoes for night games with glow-in-the-dark details. She also sported a dress from Adidas designer Stella McCartney. Unsponsored Cetkovska wore a Nike top and skirt with pink and white Asics shoes. Meanwhile, earlier in the evening Federer sported white shoes with bright pink accents for his night match look.
