Adidas Drops Damian Lillard D Lillard Forestry Edition

Portland Trail Blazer’s guard Damian Lillard is giving a shout-out to the city he calls home with the newest edition of his Adidas D Lillard 1 basketball shoe, the D Lillard Forestry Edition.

The tumbled brown leather, flannel, and yellow cord laces are meant to emulate Portland’s forestry heritage. Adidas says that the sneaker’s design “pays homage to the city that was built up from tree stumps to the quirky, metropolitan center of the Northwest that it is today.”

The blue-speckled midsole is inspired by the city’s heavy rain, and the Portland 503 area code is printed on the heel tab.

“The city means a lot to me, and the way they’ve took me in has been incredible,” says Lillard. “I wanted to create a shoe that everybody can wear around town and share what Portland is all about.”

This isn’t the first time Adidas has paid homage to Portland with the D Lillard sneakers. In May, FN reported on the release of the D Lillard PDX Carpet Edition, which is inspired by the iconic teal carpet at Portland International Airport.

The original D Lillard 1 made its debut in February 2015, just three years after the guard was selected by the Trail Blazers and went on to win the Rookie of the Year award in the 2012–2013 season. The D Lillard 1 has already been released in several colorways, including this summer’s “Take on Summer” red, which he promoted on a tour of Japan, China and Paris.

The Forestry edition also incudes one of Lillard’s signature #4BarFriday freestyles in the sockliner. Lillard started a Twitter account called @4BarFriday where he challenges followers to submit their best four freestyle rap bars in 15 seconds or less every Friday using the hashtag #4BarFriday.

The D Lillard 1 Forestry Edition retails for $105 and drops Aug. 7 at Foot Locker and Adidas.com.
