Adidas Celebrates LGBT Pride Month With ‘Pride Pack’

LGBT Pride Month is under way. Yesterday brought the unveiling of Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair, which generated reactions across the fashion and celebrity worlds. And German athletic brand Adidas has also joined the month-long celebration with rainbow flag-inspired versions of three of its most popular styles.

The Adidas Pride Pack, which hits stores June 6, includes a black Adilette slide with a multicolor strap; a white, paint-splattered Superstar sneaker; and a white Stan Smith featuring colored laces and subtle streaks on the side. The slide is priced at $50, while the sneakers will retail for $100.

Adidas, which has it U.S. headquarters in Portland, Ore., said it plans to donate a portion of the Pride Pack’s sales to Portland’s New Avenues for Youth, a local advocacy group that helps empower homeless and LGBT youth. The brand is also a sponsor of Portland Monthly‘s annual pride event, Flare, scheduled for June 11.

Pride Month is celebrated each June to honor the Stonewall Inn riots in New York, which took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969. The protests are considered the tipping point for the gay-liberation movement in the U.S.
